The Gift

In 2005 Emile laid out his intentions for how he wished his home and property would continue beyond his life. He structured a Trust in his name to support this mission as follows…

  • To provide support to non-profit art, music, and cultural organizations in the region of California’s Central Coast (Monterey and Santa Cruz counties).

  • To provide the facilities of the house and grounds of Emile Norman’s historic home in Big Sur, California as a venue for concerts, exhibits and gatherings, for fund-raising, publicity, and patron recognition and development activities.

  • Host two major benefit concerts per year and is open to additional opportunities to participate in support of activities.

  • Through activities, aims to organize events that bring together all local arts and music supporters, thus creating new and deeper levels of community within the challenging world of cultural non-profits.

  • Emile Norman’s personal collection of his artwork will also be utilized, as appropriate, in these efforts.

  • In future years, develop programs to include residencies and stipends for young artists, support for national activities relating to Emile Norman’s artistic legacy, and other community-based cultural advocacy and outreach efforts.

In August 2020, Emile Norman Arts Foundation (ENAF) 501c3 entity was formed to secure Emile’s home as a cultural treasure and adopt Emile’s missions. Finally by November 2021, ENAF’s acquisition of Emile’s home and contained artwork was complete. ENAF is currently engaged in planning and organizing the next chapter of Emile’s legacy, while working in collaboration with many other talented individuals to realize Emile’s dream.
